Surefoot started in 1982 in a closet-sized shop in Park City, Utah. Brothers Bob and Russ Shay loved everything about skiing except the boots, so they took over the family garage and started grinding, cutting and rebuilding them until they fitted. Four decades and more than a million boots later, Surefoot is the world's largest custom ski boot company — 29 stores across North America and Europe — and it is still owned and operated by the same two brothers. No franchises. No investors. A family business that got big by refusing to behave like a chain.

The Verbier store brings the full system to Switzerland: the 538-point scan, on-site CAD/CAM orthotic milling, injected liners and technicians trained in the Surefoot process. World Cup racers use the same fitting bench as first-week skiers, because the problem — a boot that matches the foot — is the same for everyone. In Verbier, Surefoot is the only store that does ski boots and nothing else.
